HAMMOCK, TATAMI, SOFA
Tuohinen Product Family was a team work with Riku Toivonen and Mikko Lanne. Our bachelor’s thesis introduces a product family made by experimental upholstery weaving technique and the process behind it. The guiding element in our thesis was the process and experiments. The results for structural and visual solutions were exposed through multiple experiments. With the furniture solutions we wanted to improve the atmosphere and working-environment in the new Niemi campus. Our bachelor’s thesis is presenting the product family including the three different prototypes. Tuohinen-product family consists of a sofa, tatami-modules and a hammock.

TATAMI
The second part of our thesis were the tatami-modules. They are designed for relaxation in working- and studing environments. The tatami-modules are light, easy to carry and quick to connect. After use the modules can be stored by placing them on the wall, where they work as acoustic elements. As with the other products in the family, colours and fabrics can be selected to suite different purposes.
